Mover number assignment (brainstorming)

In the early days, mover numbers were assigned as they reported their move. Numbering and self reporting was less of a focus after around 2020, and revived at the end of 2025. As of November 2025, we’ve been encouraging everyone in NH to sign the pledge – and identify if they are native to NH.

Our ideal numbering would clear the name for someone as they move away or retract their support, and add a flag for moved away. A removed mover would still have a number placeholder though. Capture the exact date of a mover, and include natives in our total count of Free Staters.

Per Eric – Mover number statistic is first priority, and most important measurement of the success of the non-profit mission. Mission statement “by concentrating liberty-minded people in New Hampshire” does not exclude natives that sign today… but we want to keep the “mover number” as our gold standard to measure the effectiveness of the org. It has been communicated that, in addition to the mover #, we will implement a “native number” system to track the overall In NH number. Adding the 2 totals should represent the actual “FSP Alliance in NH” total number (People that have signed the pledge, and currently reside in NH).

Data would need to be maintained, and could use 3rd party verification tools for address accuracy. Annual audit of who still lives in NH for example, and address change date even.

We are building a web report to show the cumulative movers over time. Once we can visualize the existing data, we will be able to make better decisions on numbering scheme(s).

  • Mover number assigned once/year with everyone that reported for that year ordered by the date moved, and then reported date for movers on the same day. Spouse and kids would not necessarily be counted
  • Free Stater number (Alliance in NH)
    • Anyone that signs the pledge and is in NH
    • May want to count kids moving, and born here
      • They receive number based on DOB
    • Spouse has unique number, not tied to partner
    • I AM A FREE STATER! campaign to grow the alliance
  • Bragging rights
    • Lower number can corelate to year moved
    • Signer number + mover number = seniority
      • Native would equate to 0, or DOB to determine In NH #
      • In NH year + mover number (cumulative for movers, but native number is based on DOB year + 0001) + Signer number
      • Native born in ’74, signed in 2026
        • FSN = 1974+0001+29,252 = 31227
        • (the total # is meaningless if we calc the year)
        • Could result in duplicate FSN’s
        • Could include age/DOB in the formula for movers too
          • Signed at 16, moved at 21 in 2015 as mover # 1234, signer # 6789, took 5 years
        • Tracking first visit would be nice to have
      • In NH signer before 2001 > NH native born here before 2001 > Mover # 1 > Signer # 1 > Native born after 2001 > Signer after 2016 > Signer after 2020 > Signer after 2025
